Bryce Canyon National Park
Bryce Canyon, renowned for its extraordinary geological features, is made up of a series of horseshoe-shaped amphitheaters formed along the eastern edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Located less than a two-hour drive (during summer months) from Eagle Point, it makes for an excellent day trip from the resort.
The erosional force of frost-wedging and the dissolving power of rainwater have shaped the colorful limestone rock of the Claron Formation into bizarre shapes, including slot canyons, windows, fins, and spires called “hoodoos”. Zion National Park
Follow the paths where ancient native people and pioneers walked. Gaze up at massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that soar into a brilliant blue sky. Challenge your courage in a narrow slot canyon. Zion is a two-hour drive from Eagle Point and is open year-round.
Zion’s unique array of plants and animals will enchant you as you absorb the rich history of the past and enjoy the excitement of present day adventures. Zion National Park is less than two hours by car from Eagle Point, making it a popular destination for those staying at the resort. Historic Beaver City
Settled in 1856 by Mormon Pioneers, Beaver City is today home 3,500 residents. The town has a friendly, close-knit community and features historic buildings that reflect its pioneer heritage. Visitors can enjoy local attractions like the Beaver County Historical Museum, which showcases the area’s fascinating past
Beaver is also the birthplace of two very famous individuals of the past, Philo T. Farnsworth, the inventor of television, and Butch Cassidy, the notorious western outlaw. Head over to Beaver County Ramblers to learn more about this unique and beautiful town with a rich history.
River Rafting
Another fantastic day trip from Eagle Point is rafting on the Sevier River. Originating from two distinct headwaters, the river flows north until it reaches the Paiute Reservoir. Beyond that point, the water is dam-controlled, allowing for a consistently long rafting and kayaking season. As you navigate the river, keep an eye out for bald and golden eagles, red-tailed hawks, deer, beavers, muskrats, cougars, and even black bears. The fishing here is outstanding, so don’t forget to bring your gear.
The Sevier River flows through scenic Marysvale valley, surrounded by mountain peaks rising up to 12,189 feet. It then enters Marysvale Canyon and begins a drop of 60 feet per mile. The steep canyon walls present a scenic backdrop with formations and sheer cliffs rising 500 feet above the rivers course.
